India's ex Tennis sports person has passed a long way since its inception in India and has produced several legendary Tennis players, so far. The Indian Tennis players have showed their excellence inside Tennis court in several internationally acclaimed Tennis tournaments, during their periods. They have also earned significant recognition and reputation in the international arena, by stunning the spectators with their talent. From Vijay Amritraj to the latest sensations like Sania Mirza or Somdev Devburman, a variety of such players adorn the collection of Indian tennis. The other two legendary Indian Tennis players like Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi have brought a lot of glory to India and have been doing so, till now.

 Ramanathan Krishnan The first Indian Tennis sports player, who came into limelight for showing excellent performances, was Mohammad Saleem, who won the Punjab Championship in the year 1915. He was the first Indian to win this tournament and he did phenomenally well to win successive titles in the tournament, from 1919 to 1926, as well. The other two players of that time like NS Iyer and Mr. Nagu also got significant successes in various tournaments. After that, the Indian Tennis players like Ghouse Mohammad, the Fayzee brothers like AH Fayzee and AA Fayzee, Cotah Ramaswamy, Krishna Prasad, Ramanathan Krishnan, etc got recognised at the international arena for their talents.

He along with Mahesh Bhupathi made one of the all time greatest Doubles Tennis pairs in the history of Tennis, during the later half of 1990s and the first half of 2000s. Mahesh Bhupathi won a total of 10 Doubles Grand Slam titles with different partners, something that is considered as one of the best achievements for a Tennis player. The other Indian Tennis players like Sania Mirza and Somdev Devburman have also shown their talents and capabilities in different international events, in recent years. Sania Mirza became the first Indian woman to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament at the 2005 US Open.

Apart from these legendary and eminent players, there are also several talented and promising Indian Tennis players, who have the potential to become a Tennis legend in the future. Karan Rastogi is one such player, who was born on 8th October, 1986 in Mumbai. He started playing tennis at the age of only 3 and had reached the semi-finals of the Australian Junior Open Championship in 2004. Rupesh Roy is considered another talented Indian Tennis player. Hailing from Kolkata, Rupesh was born on 16th February 1969 and his favourite is Grass court. He is a right handed player and plays double handed backhand shot. Another talented Indian Tennis player is Navdeep Singh. This confident and determined young player has conquered the National Junior (under 18) title in recent years to prove his potentialities. The young Indian Women Tennis player, Gayatri Krishnan is the daughter of Tennis legendary Ramesh Krishnan. Though she is at a tender age and is now playing junior level Tennis, she is definitely showing a lot of potentialities.

Parul Goswami is a talented young Indian Women Tennis player, who hails from Uttarakhand. She was born in 1986 and was ranked first during the year 2002. She has also won the National Championship in 2007. Tejasvi Rao from Hyderabad is another talented Indian Tennis player, who is showing exceptional performances at a very young age. Another young Indian Tennis player is Isha Toor, who hails from Chandigarh. She won the AITA zonal meets in Meerut and Delhi and also won two successive titles in the AITA talent series. Born on 8th July, 1988 in Hyderabad, Tara Sharma is the daughter of famous Tennis player, Parameswaran Iyer. Tara represented India in the junior Federation Cup for two years and also reached finals in both times. Her brother, Venkat Sharma is also considered as one of the top junior players in India, in his age group.

Once ranked as India`s No.1 at the under-18 level, Rohan Dinesh Gide is another talented Indian Tennis player. He was born on 20th February in 1987 and had won 4 single junior tournaments in 2005. Samriddh Burman is a young Indian Tennis player, who hails from Kolkata. Nirvick Mohinta is considered as the new star and hope of Indian Tennis. Nirvick was born on 23rd October 1986 and started playing Tennis at the age of 8, encouraged by his athlete parents. He has won four All India Tennis Association tournaments. India`s No.1 ranked player in the Junior Girls` category is Venkatesh Poojashree. She hails from Mysore. Another talented Indian Tennis player is Navdeep Singh, who is a former National Junior Champion. Once ranked as India`s No.1 at the under-16 level, Preethi Subhramanian is an exceptional Tennis player, who won 25 titles and was runner-up for 24 times in ITF, AITA, State and District level tournaments. Hailing from Coimbatore, she has also won three ITF junior tournaments. Sanna Bhambari is another new star of Indian Women`s Tennis. Though she is at a very tender age, she has already got significant successes.
